Believe it or not, I had not yet hiked through Poly Canyon. The Serenity Swing was just an allusive seat swinging away atop a gorgeous view. But in fact, it exists, and it’s so beautiful! This was a great time of year to hike Poly Canyon. For starters, your eyes can relax and be comforted in a sea of emerald green.
While we saw a few deer and a few hawks, the wildlife stealing the spotlight was in the form of wildflowers. Dotting the rolling hills were spots of yellow mustard seed flowers and purple lupins. The wildflowers are on point right now! If you haven’t done a hike recently, grab your trail shoes and get out there to do your best “The hills are alive” because spring is calling.
And hop on the Serenity Swing for a great view.
And my baby bump is starting to show! In case you haven’t seen our sister site just yet, check out Central Coast Mama to see what Kelly and I are up to in the mama world. My husband and I are expecting our first child in September, a baby girl! Poly Canyon was perfect for me, there are challenging parts to break a sweat and then flat parts to catch your breath. And being 16 weeks pregnant, the catch your breath parts were very welcomed!
We took quite the hike, a little over 2 hours total, but we were enjoying the scenery so much we just kept goin’ and goin’. The great thing about Poly Canyon, besides the beautiful views, is there are lots of trail offshoots and destinations to keep your curiosity happy. We made it to the Serenity Swing this time, and next time around I want to check out a few other trail offshoots.
It’s lookin’ good out there SLO! Cheers to another beautiful spring on the Central Coast.
