My husband and I recently wrapped up another home project as we settle into our new place and get everything ready for baby number three. This time we focused on updating the master bathroom.
The “before” is an 80’s-style master bath which we thought was nice but in need of a refresh to take it into the 21st century. Funny… we actually looked at the “before” photo after the work was complete and were surprised that it looked better than we remember! (Below is actually a photo from the real estate listing.)
With a lot of help from our contractor, Isaac, from IMC Building, we came up with an updated design but kept the general layout the same. He started by removing the existing vanity and replacing it with new shaker style cabinets and the rest of the Caesarstone slab from our kitchen remodel.
Once again we drew our inspiration from Houzz, and found this bathroom that we absolutely love and thought would work well in our space. I think Isaac nailed it!
More than anything I wanted the bathroom to be a peaceful place to get ready for the day and relax in the tub afterward. With 3 little kiddos I’m not sure how often that’ll happen but hey…. someday.
I really liked the idea of a hotel feel with marble throughout, gray cabinets, and and a creamy paint color. Here’s how it turned out (and no, it’s definitely not always this clean!!):
My favorite part, Isaac made this awesome pull-out cabinet for my hair dryer and curling iron… his idea (maybe he noticed they were always left out on the counter, haha). I love it and it makes keeping things tidy a breeze!
Another awesome change is the toilet, which is now in its own little room. When we moved in, it was out in the middle of the space, which was awkward!
We still need to find a piece of colorful artwork to hang above the tub. I was envisioning something from Forever Stoked or a piece from Art on the Beach. I’m not very good at decorating so suggestions are welcome!
I wanted a tub caddy like this one from Anthropologie, but the price tag was way too steep. A friend of ours was able to make a replica for us and we love the way it looks. After this baby is born, it will hold my wine glass perfectly. 😉
That’s a wrap for our major home projects for a while!
